OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - The Baltimore Ravens have selected Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw with the 35th overall pick in the NFL draft.
The 6-foot-2, 272-pound Upshaw could fill the void left by the departure of free agent outside linebacker Jarret Johnson
Upshaw, a native of Eufaula, Ala., is the first player taken by Baltimore in the draft. Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome didn't make a selection in the first round, choosing instead to deal the 29th overall pick to the Minnesota Vikings for the 35th pick and a fourth-rounder.
