Blood supply emergency continues, donate today

AUBURN, AL - A blood supply emergency that began 10 days ago continues to present a challenge, according to LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, and blood donors are still needed.

“We appreciate the response from our donors and media, and we’ve made great progress, but we still have a ways to go,” said LifeSouth Vice President of Operations J.B. Bowles. “Our goal is to have our hospitals fully stocked and for us to have a five to seven-day supply of all blood types to resupply them. We haven’t reached that, yet. We never want to get to the point that hospitals have to delay elective surgeries because there isn’t sufficient blood in reserve.”
